Your piano is a mechanical instrument made up of somewhere between 9000 and 14,000 parts, manufactured from wood, felt, leather, metal and plastics, as well as composites. As a mechanical device, your piano will need periodic repairs. Felt and leather parts wear, wooden or composite action parts can break and metal parts can be bent – even on the most expensive pianos. Many times these issues can be solved with relatively simple piano repairs performed during the same visit in which you have scheduled your piano tuning. More extensive repairs may require a separate appointment to remedy, depending upon how complex the problem is.
